Students at Pacific Crest Innovation Academy are encouraged to participate in clubs and activities in addition to their classes to support a well-rounded high school experience. The following clubs and activities are currently available:

We, the students of Pacific Crest Innovation Academy, with equal representation, respect, value, and recognition of all students and staff, and for the promotion of good government, good sportsmanship, student activities, and the general welfare of the student body of Pacific Crest Innovation Academy.  The purpose of the Associated Student Body is:

Section A. To unify all student organizations under one general contract.
Section B. To increase student involvement in school management.
Section C. To develop in all students an understanding and appreciation of the democratic process.
Section D. To promote mutual respect and understanding.
Section E. To encourage student involvement and enthusiasm in all school activities.
Section F. To discuss and settle disputes which arise between organizations and activities.

PCIA Robotics provides integrated product development experience, practice, and best practices. Students will use an iterative process to develop a robot for FTC Robotics competition, including selection and prioritization of features, design, manufacturing, electronics and programming.

The PCIA science club is a place for students to share their love of science, practice animal and plant husbandry, and engage in scientific explorations outside of the classroom. The club is student lead, with elected student officers and mentored by our Science Department head instructor, Mr. Ryan Van Duzor.

In our club meetings students engage in:

sharing weekly science news or interesting facts in our “Sci-5!”

raising and caring for fish, plants, amphibians and other animals

science experiments and engineering challenges (chemistry experiments, microscope exploration, and physics challenges (bridge building, rockets etc!)

bringing in guest speaker scientists

science focussed field trips (naturalist hikes, rock hunting, bird watching, star gazing etc!)

general fun and lively science discussion!

Join PCIA students and staff after school 1x per week for fun games of badminton! There are varying levels of skills, and all PCIA students are invited to participate; no prior badminton experience needed to join. Rackets will be provided. Please wear gym shoes when participating. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Knowledge Bowl is kind of like a team Jeopardy competition. A school’s Knowledge Bowl team is made up of smaller teams, each consisting of generally 4 – 6 team members. Our school’s teams compete against other teams from neighboring schools to see who can answer the most questions in math, science, history, English, social studies, etc.

During each competition, teams compete in a written round (60 for high school) and two oral rounds (60 each in high school). The winning team is based on the total number of questions answered correctly in all three rounds.

The purpose of the Yearbook club is to allow students to organize, help make decisions, edit, and contribute to the yearbook; share creative work from each student; create a memorable volume for all students and for the PCIA library; give students an opportunity to share photos, memories, and to document PCIA history; include all students in a year-long creative activity; and organize fundraisers with the goal of raising enough money to provide yearbooks to students and faculty at no cost.

Wind Challenge is a hands-on program that fuels student interest in science, technology and wind energy! This event is brought to the Gorge by the Gorge Tech Alliance, Columbia Gorge Community College and Google.

During the event, teams of middle or high school students learn about wind turbine technology and design, and apply their skills in an all-day competition to build, test, and present their wind turbine models. A hands-on STEM Fair keeps the participants busy and is open to the public for free. 

Prizes are given to the three high school teams and the three middle school teams whose wind turbines had the fastest speed for transferring the kinetic energy and the most electrical power generated.

The purpose of D&D Club is to offer the experience of Dungeons and Dragons to PCIA students as a way to socialize, bond, and reduce some of the stress of daily life at PCIA. The goal is to foster a rich and diverse community and intellectually stimulate the students of PCIA with collaborative storytelling.
